A Florida man was arrested for allegedly threatening a newly established Jewish residential community with a firearm in posts on social media, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on Thursday.
The investigation into 31-year-old Orlando resident Jerry Sneed began earlier in October when FLDE agents in Fort Myers received information regarding threatening social media posts.
Sneed allegedly posted photos of the Glades County residential community and a firearm along with threatening statements.
After the posts were reported, law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant, and Sneed was taken into custody by FDLE and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
During the arrest, Sneed was found to be in possession of the firearm pictured in the threatening social media posts.
Sneed charged with threats to kill, conduct mass shooting
According to FDLE, Sneed has been charged with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, as well as unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
FDLE stated that the investigation into Sneed remains active.
According to a Ynet report, the residential community was established in October and is expected to include around 1,300 housing units.
