Val Thorens in France celebrates its tenth win in 13 years at the World Ski Awards, reaffirming its status as one of the most dominant and sought-after ski resorts in the world. The recognition reinforces the French Alps destination’s position as a benchmark of excellence in modern skiing.

The resort is located in the Tarentaise Valley in southeastern France, at an altitude of approximately 2,300 meters, making it the highest ski resort on the continent. The elevation ensures high-quality snow and provides a long and reliable ski season, usually stretching from November to May – nearly half a year of skiing.

Val Thorens is also the central hub of Les 3 Vallées, the world’s largest connected ski area, which includes seven different resorts. The network offers about 640 kilometers of prepared slopes, supported by one of the most advanced and innovative lift systems in the world. The World Ski Awards highlighted the resort’s facilities, lift infrastructure, and accommodation options as cornerstones of its ongoing success.

Recognition for Leading Hotels

In addition to the overall resort win, selected properties worldwide also received recognition. In the United States, Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley was named the best ski hotel in the world, while Val Thorens’ five-star Le Pashmina hotel was awarded the title of Best Ski Boutique Hotel for 2025. Japan also stood out this year, with Nikko Style Niseko HANAZONO recognized as the Best New Ski Hotel in the World, reflecting the continuing expansion of luxury ski infrastructure in Asia.

Why Val Thorens Continues to Lead

It’s not just luck. Ten wins in 13 years reflect consistency. At 2,300 meters, the resort guarantees excellent skiing conditions even during periods of climate variability. Moreover, it offers nearly half a year of skiing, while other resorts close in March. In terms of size, the entire area offers 640 kilometers of slopes – enough to spend a week skiing without repeating a run. Additionally, the resort continually upgrades trails, lifts, and facilities, ensuring a modern and advanced skiing experience. And let’s not forget, it features modern and fast lifts that efficiently transport hundreds of skiers, without the long queues typical of older resorts.

In a world where ski resorts compete in innovation, luxury, and visitor experience, Val Thorens continues to set the standard. This is not just another win – it is a status and tradition of excellence that leads the industry and makes the resort a model for ski destinations worldwide.
