Families, mark your calendars: Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island in the Bahamas, gets starting January 2026 a major upgrade that includes a yoga complex, an AR treasure hunt and a LEGO® zone, making it an ideal beach destination for all ages.

Cruise giant MSC Cruises is upgrading its private island in the Bahamas. The island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, will offer a host of new activities intended to enrich the guest experience and provide families with a full-content beach day.

Ocean Cay, once converted from an industrial site into a natural, protected island, offers eight pristine beaches, stunning turquoise waters, and a new marine-conservation center run by the MSC Foundation — where visitors can learn about coral-reef conservation initiatives. Alongside the usual offerings, there will be an option for late docking or overnight stays on the island, allowing guests to enjoy a longer visit.

What’s new on the island?

The upgrade includes three core experiences: A daily beach wellness program. During the day, guests will enjoy a comprehensive wellness program: Yoga classes by the sea, functional workouts, a “Fire & Ice” experience combining hot yoga and ice plunges, and sunrise yoga with sound-healing meditation. The activities are designed to provide a relaxing experience connected to the island’s wild nature.

Ocean Cay will also offer an innovative augmented-reality (AR) treasure–hunt experience, suitable for all ages. Using a phone or tablet, guests will embark on an interactive trail around the island, with stories of nature, explanations about the local wildlife, vegetation and the island’s conservation efforts.

Additionally, right at the island entrance, families will find a colorful LEGO® POP-UP area. The location will feature seven original LEGO figures alongside MSC’s mascot, and will offer creative activities, games and gatherings for children and parents alike.

Joining existing activities

These new attractions join the array of existing island activities: Snorkeling, kayaking, jet-skiing, beach sports and more. The combination of natural experiences, wellness activities, cutting-edge technology and educational content makes Ocean Cay one of the cruise industry’s leading family beach destinations.

The extensive upgrade is meant to transform the private island into an especially innovative family destination, promising an unforgettable beach day for all ages.
