Remember the good old days of Turkey? When we flew there with our eyes closed, enjoyed breathtaking beaches and prices that didn’t break the bank? Montenegro brings all that back – and even more.

This small Balkan country has become the new destination for savvy Israelis looking for a perfect holiday without political entanglements. With 150 kilometers of Adriatic coastline, magnificent mountains, and prices that make you smile, Montenegro offers everything in one place.

Why is Montenegro exactly what we’ve been looking for?

Close enough to save time and money – just 3–4 hours flight to the capital Podgorica (TGD) or the coastal town of Tivat (TIV), and you’ve arrived in paradise. Flights are relatively cheap and frequent, with more and more airlines offering competitive prices for those who book in advance.

Want to stay in a boutique hotel with a sea view? You can find charming rooms starting at around NIS 400 per night. A full meal at a restaurant with a view? About NIS 50 per person. Fast food at one of the many stands will cost you NIS 20–30. A half-liter beer? About NIS 6. Even car rental – which is essential for exploring the country – costs significantly less than in other European countries. That goes for fuel as well.

Beaches that rival anywhere in Europe

Montenegro’s coastline is something special. Crystal-clear blue waters, clean and diverse beaches – from pebbled shores to golden sands. Budva beach offers a pleasant tourist vibe, Petrovac offers peace and quiet, and the small surrounding beaches provide privacy and charm. Best of all? There’s none of the insane overcrowding you’ll find in Italy or Spain, and you can enjoy the sea without fighting for a spot on the sand.

Mountains and breathtaking views

Durmitor National Park is a true gem. Lakes so clear you can see to the bottom, mountains rising over 2,000 meters, and hiking trails for all levels.

What’s unique about Montenegro? You can combine everything in one trip. A morning on the beach, an afternoon in the mountains, and an evening at a cozy restaurant with a panoramic view.

Where should you visit?

Budva – the perfect tourist hub

The most popular city – and rightfully so. Stunning beaches, a charming medieval old town, and a relaxed nightlife. There are enough restaurants, bars, and attractions to keep you entertained for several enjoyable days, but it’s not overwhelming.

Kotor – the historical marvel

The Bay of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and for good reason. The old city is incredibly well-preserved, the walls climb up the mountain offering a fantastic view, and the bay itself looks like a Norwegian fjord warmed by the sun.

Petrovac – peace and beauty

A small and magical coastal village, perfect for those seeking real relaxation. Clean beaches, authentic fish restaurants, and an atmosphere that makes you forget all your worries back home.

Durmitor National Park – nature at its finest

A paradise for nature and activity lovers. Crystal-clear lakes, stunning mountains, opportunities for rafting, hiking, and photography that will make all your friends jealous.
