Amikam Ben Zvi, Chairman of EL AL Israel Airlines, will brief attendees at the Jerusalem Post Washington Conference, December 9-10, on the airline’s future plans. “The conference’s title, ‘Building Tomorrow, Today,’ is relevant to the entire Israeli economy — and even more so to EL AL,” said Ben Zvi. “Since the outbreak of the war, EL AL has been fully committed to the vital mission of continuing to serve as the air bridge connecting Israel with the world, transporting passengers as well as essential cargo.
“We are proud that over the past two years, despite operational challenges, we have successfully maintained our flight schedule as planned, and even added rescue flights to bring Israelis home — including soldiers, reservists, families of hostages, the wounded, and bereaved families — from various destinations around the globe.”
Ben Zvi added that advance planning for El Al as a significant component of Israel’s national infrastructure is important not only during wartime but also in times of stability. “Demand for travel among the Israeli public, similar to the global trend, continues to grow — growth that will not be possible without a strong EL AL.”
In the coming years, El AL will continue its expansion and will invest over $4 billion in the purchase of new aircraft. “At the same time,” says Ben Zvi, “we will continue working to increase the frequency of our flights to destinations worldwide — with an emphasis on the United States — to further strengthen the connection between Jewish communities and the State of Israel, and to bring passengers from the US to Israel, in accordance with EL AL’s high service standards.”
The Jerusalem Post Washington Conference will be led by Ronald S. Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress. A staunch defender of Israel and a leading advocate for the global Jewish community, Lauder has accepted this role with a deep sense of mission and commitment to strengthen Israel’s standing on the international stage and to deepen the bond between the State of Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
