At the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference at the Friends of Zion Media Center, Mekorot CEO Amit Lang showcased Israel’s leadership in water management and innovation. “Mekorot is regarded as the top water supply company globally,” Lang said, highlighting its “outstanding performance compared to any benchmark.”

He noted Israel’s water loss rate of under 4%, the lowest worldwide, and the country's capacity to unify various water sources into a single system. “We utilize advanced command systems, sensors, and cutting-edge technology, including AI for predictive maintenance,” he explained. This proactive approach allows Mekorot to identify and address issues early, saving costs and avoiding supply disruptions.

Lang also highlighted Mekorot’s growing international presence. “In Kazakhstan, we are undertaking a major project in Almaty, planning decades ahead to address climate change challenges,” he said. In Azerbaijan, Mekorot oversees the building of a desalination plant on the Caspian Sea.

“They highly value our knowledge, expertise, and experience,” he stressed. Additionally, Mekorot invests in innovation, with about ten startups in its portfolio, including one that produces chlorine directly from water using an on-site machine – technology now deployed at numerous sites and sold worldwide. Back in Israel, Lang reassured citizens worried about the Kinneret’s water levels: “We have a unique system that can deliver water into the Sea of Galilee, thanks to our desalination plants operating at full capacity.”
