For the first time in Israel’s banking history, a bank will refund the May and June mortgage payments of customers who were evacuated from their homes during the Israel-Iran War, Bank Hapoalim announced on Wednesday. Under the unprecedented relief measure, qualifying mortgage holders will receive reimbursements of up to NIS 7,000 per payment.
The benefit is available to Bank Hapoalim customers holding a single or replacement residential mortgage, whose homes were directly damaged and who were forced to evacuate for at least one month as a result of the recent security operation. The move follows a series of relief steps announced last week for private clients, businesses, and mortgage borrowers affected by the hostilities.
This latest initiative complements two earlier mortgage-subsidy programs launched during Operation Iron Swords, which provided similar support to residents of the Gaza envelope and the north. Bank Hapoalim’s Social Banking Center stated that it will continue to develop products and value propositions tailored to meet customers’ evolving needs throughout this challenging period.
All entitlements are subject to the bank’s terms and criteria, which are detailed on its website. For more information, customers may contact Bank Hapoalim’s Press Office at 03-5673635.
