Libra travel insurance customers affected by the suspension of flydubai flights to Israel will receive free coverage extensions, the company announced on Friday.

The free policy extensions will last until October 6, or until the customer returns to Israel (whichever occurs first).

The company noted that the coverage extension is automatic, with no action needed from customers.

The move comes after flydubai temporarily suspended all operations between Dubai and Tel Aviv following the attempted hijacking of flight FZ1073 by one of the pilots.

"This temporary suspension will allow the relevant authorities to continue their work and establish all the facts surrounding the incident," flydubai said in a statement released on Wednesday after the incident. "We remain in close coordination with government authorities, regulators, and airport stakeholders and will review the suspension as more information becomes available."

Shin Bet recommends halting UAE-Israel flights

The airline's announcement followed a recommendation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) earlier on Wednesday that flights between the United Arab Emirates and Israel should be suspended until the investigation progresses.

Israeli carriers have stepped in to provide repatriation flights for stranded passengers, the first of which, operated by Arkia, landed in Israel on Saturday.
