US Sen. Bernie Moreno said Wednesday at The Jerusalem Post Washington Conference in Washington that American Christians “see Israel’s fight as their own,” calling for a coordinated campaign to counter misinformation that fuels antisemitism.

Moreno, speaking about faith-based backing for Israel, said many Christians view Israel’s security as essential to safeguarding Christianity’s holiest sites. “Christians like myself understand that without the State of Israel protecting the Holy Lands, Christianity would be wiped off the map immediately,” he said. “That is why you have tremendous allies, allies who see Israel’s fight as their own.”

Confronting misinformation

Turning to public discourse in the US, Moreno said Israel and its supporters need to win “the propaganda war.” He argued that advocates should stress Israel’s democratic character and civil liberties, including protections for women and LGBTQ people. “If we fight the PR battle with the same determination as the military battle, we can eradicate antisemitism in America,” he said.

Background: Christian allies and shifting advocacy

Recent JPost coverage has highlighted intensified Evangelical engagement with Israel, including large advocacy delegations visiting Jerusalem and meeting Israeli officials.

Incidents of antisemitism and viral online provocations have spiked in the US since October 7, fueling concern over misinformation and campus climates.

Moreno has also attracted attention for a proposal to ban dual citizenship, a move watched closely by Israeli Americans and new immigrants.
