US President Donald Trump was approached by pro-Palestinian protesters calling him "the Hitler of our time” while dining out in Washington on Tuesday evening.
“Free DC! Free Palestine!” the protesters, members of the activist group Code Pink, were seen shouting in videos obtained by CNN, referencing both the president's ongoing support for Israel during the war as well as his deployment of the National Guard in Washington.
It was unclear how they knew he would be there, local media reported.
Trump's first time dining out this term
Trump's visit to the steakhouse was intended to show the public that his crime crackdown had made the city safe. He was accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
According to CNN, this was Trump’s first visit to a Washington restaurant since his second inauguration last January.
Upon entering the restaurant, the president was met with a mixture of applause on boos from the diners.
“We have a safe city, so that’s good. Enjoy yourself. You won’t be mugged going home,” Trump told the diners.
