Former White House strategist Steve Bannon called for an investigation into the "mangled" handling of the October 7 Hamas massacre, adding that Netanyahu uses footage from October 7 to distract from intelligence failings.
On his podcast, Bannon's War Room, he accused Netanyahu of using footage from the massacre to distract from what Bannon claimed were intelligence failings. Bannon specifically called out Israeli intelligence agencies Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the Mossad, claiming that "they still haven't answered the questions."
Bannon added that Israel should form a Pearl Harbor or 9/11-style commission to investigate the attacks.
In May, the Israeli government decided against launching a State Commission of Inquiry (SCI) into the October 7 massacre, citing the ongoing Gaza war as a reason for the delay.
Calls for state inquiry are widely supported
According to a poll conducted in June, over 73% of Israelis would support a probe into the subject.
Bannon's comments follow rising political tensions within Israel, as weekly demonstrations call for the government to reach a hostage deal to bring home the 48 hostages from Gaza, as well as seeking government accountability on the matter.
